I was asked recently to do a sunshine birthday cake for friends' little girl (who is also Trissy's little friend!) She loves sunshines and rainbows, and her party was at a local splash park/playground, so it was perfect.
As an added fun touch, we made the inside of the cake "rainbow colored!" It really did look cute, and was totally worth the effort and large amount of food coloring dye ingested by all.
Note to self: Do not attempt to make cake when Brian is out of town and it is just you & Tris and you are also 8.5 months pregnant. You will be late for the party, your back will hurt, you won't get much sleep, and your child will lick icing off the beaters for breakfast while you finish the cake.
OK, now moving on. We have also been spending lots of time watering our flowers since it has been so dry! I should have known this was affecting Tris when she picked the "grow your own herbs" flowerpot out of the dollar section at target :) She had the unfortunate mishap of getting some of my cactus burrs in her finger during one of her watering sessions and daddy had to remove them. (I do not dig anything out of fingers with tweezers, thank you!)
So, afterwards, she needed to return the favor for daddy. Complete with headlamp and all.
We had a great Fourth of July and Tris and I even made a flag cake (we're not going for exact replica here people.) Our church has a great celebration every year called Patriotic Picnic that the entire community is invited to with all kinds of inflatables for kids, the wind symphony, performances by our praise band, and a huge fireworks show at the end. It was awesome this year, and Grammie, Papaw, and the cousins even came up for it! We had a great time, but I was so busy chasing the kids and being hot and pregnant that I didn't take any pictures :)
While being a fan of my high heels (which I am currently not wearing at this point anyway!) Tris is NOT a fan of fireworks. Unless of course they are on a Disney movie.
Tris and little Charlotte were not in the best picture-taking moods at the time, but we'll try to get them straight before they make it to their Baylor Sing debuts :)
