One of the things we have tried to start doing this summer is "letter of the week." I guess the teacher in me is coming out, because I am bound and determined to make everything an educational opportunity :)
Since Tris didn't go to school/daycare this summer at all, I wanted us to have some fun activities to do, and also wanted her to be "ready" for her K3 classes this fall!
Every week I have tried to do some sort of "set up." For instance, here is our set-up for the letter "F." We had all sorts of objects that started with "F" and we finger painted.
Then, we made funny faces at the camera :)
Each week, we also tried to talk about things that started with that letter, hung up our artwork on the window through the week so we could be reminded of the letter, and looked for it on signs as we drove around running errands. We also tried to read books that had to do with the letter, sing songs, and read a bible story (for instance, letter "R" week we read about the rainbow that God sent.)
Introducing the letter "D!" I didn't really have one website or curriculum for this craziness- just kind of through things together based on what I thought they would be learning in K3. Here we're eating a "dog snack." My friend Tonya also gave me the great idea of finding pictures of letters in the magazines or pictures of things that start with that letter and having Tris glue a collage of that letter. Also, if we save our artwork from each letter, I may laminate them and make an "alphabet book" for her to look back through. (I'm sure this will happen right after I finish our wedding scrapbook from six years ago, finish Tristyn's baby book, and fold all the laundry :)
So far this summer, we covered D, R, F, A, M, T, and this week will be the letter B...for baby sister who is coming soon!!

GOOD GRIEF! WHEN DO YOU SLEEP?????
YOU ARE SOMETHING ELSE MISS ML!
Tris is a lucky girl!
Nothing wrong with working on that Baylor scholarship a little early. Seriously, it's amazing how interested she is and how much she retains. We had fun doing the letter M when she was here for Kindermusic, but I don't think I did as much with the letter as you've done with all the others. Enjoy every minute.
I second what mom said and now I feel guilty for never having introduced Henry to a letter and I'm going to teach him russian tomorrow. Need to go make my lesson plan
